Underbody first
The chassis wash is the first stage of a SUNRISE wash. Its nozzles sit at the line entrance and spray the underbody as the vehicle arrives, before the side jets and brushes reach the body.
It runs at 7.5 to 10 bar and can be automatic or manual. The nozzles work over a reinforced concrete substructure, which forms part of the civil works for the bay.
The five SUNRISE wash stages
-
Chassis wash
Nozzles at the line entrance spray the underbody at 7.5 to 10 bar, automatically or manually, over a reinforced concrete substructure.
-
Robotic side wash
Pulsating jets work along the sides through two or four turbo jet nozzles, at 70 to 100 bar.
-
Brush wash
Two vertical brushes and one horizontal brush wash the body under pressure control.
-
Surface drying
An automatic water sweeping unit clears the surface using high-pressure water.
-
Winter drain
A push-button drain empties water and chemicals below +4 °C and rotates the brushes.
Spray figures
| Chassis wash | 7.5-10 bar |
|---|---|
| Robotic side wash | 70-100 bar |
| Side wash nozzles | Two or four turbo jet nozzles |
| Feed water pressure | 3.5-4 bar |
| Water distribution | Galvanized pipes, separate lines for rinse water, shampoo and chemicals |
| Valves | 24 V DC solenoid valves |
Cold weather operation
For depots that wash through freezing weather, SUNRISE has a winter drain. It is a push-button function that drains water and chemicals below +4 °C and turns the brushes.
Cold-weather packages are available as options. Europe Makine quotes them per site, because they change the installed power and the water requirement of the machine.
Water and chemical lines
Water reaches the nozzles through galvanized pipes finished with electrostatic oven paint. Rinse water, shampoo and chemicals each run on a separate line, fed by electrically operated dosing pumps and switched by 24 V DC solenoid valves.
The standard build draws 70-80 lt/min of water at 3.5-4 bar. Optional equipment raises the requirement to 250 lt/min, which is worth knowing before the water supply to the bay is sized.
Questions and answers
- Is the chassis wash part of the standard machine?
- The chassis wash is the first of the five published SUNRISE wash stages, at 7.5 to 10 bar, automatic or manual.
- What groundwork does the chassis wash need?
- A reinforced concrete substructure under the nozzles, as part of a concrete wash lane.
- Does water recovery change the utilities?
- Yes. Both the installed power and the water requirement move when optional equipment, water recovery or a cold-weather package is added, and each is quoted per site.
- How are shampoo and chemicals dosed?
- Through electrically operated dosing pumps, on separate lines for rinse water, shampoo and chemicals.
- What does the winter drain do to the brushes?
- It rotates them while it drains water and chemicals from the machine below +4 °C.
- Can staff run the chassis wash by hand?
- Yes. The chassis wash runs automatically or manually.
