Planning a bus wash bay at the depot

A SUNRISE gantry needs a concrete lane, rails at a 400 cm gauge, an electrical supply, water and compressed air. These are the published figures to plan the bay around.

Space in the bay

The gantry runs on fixed rails with a 400 cm gauge. The machine is 465 cm wide without its water shields, and each shield adds 14 cm.

Machine height is 510 cm for the W4000 and 560 cm for the W4700. An indoor bay has to clear that height along the full travel of the gantry.

Optional accessories fit inside the machine's own footprint. SUNRISE is modular, so adding equipment later does not take extra space in the bay.

Driver guidance

Steel router guide pipes, 3 inches in diameter, are fixed to the concrete floor to line the bus up with the gantry.

Two 24 VDC LED traffic lights tell the driver when to move: one at the start of the rails and one on the machine body. Red means the machine is running or off. Green means it is ready to wash.

Build and drive

Frames are A1 grade DKP steel, finished with electrostatic powder coating. Hot-dip galvanization is an option. Energy is transmitted by chain drive, which reduces the load on the gearbox and motor.

Standard build and site options

The utility figures above are for the standard SUNRISE build. Optional equipment, water recovery and cold-weather packages change the installed power and the water requirement, and Europe Makine quotes them per site.

Before the proforma, map the four services the bay needs: a concrete lane, an electrical supply, water and compressed air. Add the reinforced concrete substructure for the chassis wash at the lane entrance.

Questions and answers

How wide does the bay need to be for the machine?
The machine is 465 cm wide excluding water shields, and the shields add 14 cm on each side.
What groundwork is needed?
A concrete lane for the rails, with a reinforced concrete substructure where the chassis wash sits.
How much water does one gantry use?
The standard build needs 70-80 lt/min at 3.5-4 bar. Optional equipment needs 250 lt/min.
Does Europe Makine install the machine?
Yes. Installation is free, and the machine is shipped door to door.
What compressed air does the gantry need?
6 bar air pressure and 15 lt/min of air.
